junior engineer
The City and County of San Francisco anticipates frequent openings for Junior Engineer positions that provide many rewarding opportunities in diverse operating departments.
The City offers an engineering progression series that supports rapid promotional opportunities through the professional Engineering levels. Junior Engineers hired at the entry-level step will receive a 5% step increase in pay after six months of service. After one year of satisfactory service and attainment of the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate, a Junior Engineer may be promoted to an Assistant Engineer. There are subsequent opportunities for promotion to mid-level and upper-level engineering management positions as the City maintains six levels of professional engineering classes.
Under the Graduating Engineering Student Program, students in their final year of an engineering program can qualify by providing proof of current enrollment at a college/university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) with a major in civil, mechanical, electrical, environmental, chemical, or transportation engineering, or a related engineering degree program.
Filing Date: Continuous. All eligible candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and pass this evaluation of education and experience will have their names placed on the eligible list. Final scores will be reflected in rank order.
student trainee program
A Summer Trainee Program for college undergraduates who have completed at least one year in an accredited Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Planning, Surveying and Geographical Information System program.
